  2. He was one of the very best, pound for pound, fighters, that ever came out of the Youngstown area. Though his career was cut way short of his true potential, he still gained respect by all those who ever seen him in fight, and by all of his opponents. He won the Youngstown Golden Gloves four years consecutively, and the Cleveland GG twice, while earning the rating of te 6th best middleweight in the USA, in 1976. As an amateur, in 1976, prior to the Olympic games tryouts, he fought the #1 amateur middleweight in the world, in Las Vegas, Thomas Brooks. In 1975 Brooks fought and beat Michael Spinks over a three round decision.
His biggest mistake he made in his life, and professional boxing career, was trusting in his manager, Lou Duva, For details of Rusty;s boxing career, and Lou Duva’s underhanded, teamster president, illegal, managerial tactics, go to Rusty’s auto-biography titled,”Unclaimed Destiny, The Heart of a Champion,” published by Zumaya Publications, in 2003.
In 1992, Rusty invented a now, world known, fitness exercise called, “Boxercise.” To this very day, Rusty teaches, & trains, any willing person in this outstanding fitness program. He’s based in Niles, Ohio, at a fitness health center called “Fitness One.” Call 330-550-5824 for details.
If there is anyone that, “should have been, could have been, would have been,” another world boxing champ from the Youngstown area, it is Rusty Rosenberger. God should bless you kid, and hopefully, one day he will, Rusty, with your just reward. World fame and fortune, well maybe?

    • Yes we did make a change based on the redemmoncation of the folks managing start/finish and timing. The start will be in the parking lot of Dix stadium going toward summit street. The 25k will turn left at summit, and the 5k will turn right. You will not be able to run both. Traffic control was also an issue as the sherriffs department is volunteering and we needed to keep their time committiment as tight as possible. I hope this means you will still run, I look forward to seeing you there. Let me know if you have any questions, we will get the route posted asap.Ben
